Hello *,

I want to save test validation results also in Excel. Our test specification worksheet is structed in this way: rows includes process description, input data, validation values and - entered by Sitewalker - also the validation results (values, "OK", "FAILED"..)

Does it work ? How can SiteWalker do this ?

Appreciate any help.

Jon

Hi Jon,

we also use worksheets with specified test cases. Whatever should be saved to Excel it must extracted from the page itself.
If your test results are not shown (as string) in the web document you cannot extract and save them.
So displayed result values can be extraced and saved, but a state "OK" or "FAILED" which are not existing in the web document can not be extracted.

If there is another way let us know.

regards,

Holger

Yes, Jon is right. Only values extracted from a web document can be saved to Excel. But why not add a step at the tasks end in order to extract value "OK" or "FAILED" depending on validation results ?

Therefore append one HTML element displaying text tree times as (three) steps - for the first one define a JavaScript statement, e.g. document.all[indexOfThisStepHTMLElement].innerText = "OK". For the second step specify the same script setting "FAILED".
Enhance your validation rule with Validation dialog in that way: If validation is OK the Step that writes "OK" will be executed in default. If validation has evaluated to "failed" a GOTO statement jumps to the step2 that writes "FAILED" into the web document.
And the third step should be specified to extract the HTML element value and save it to Excel. Thats all.
